Hi there, I'm Gil!

I am really passionate about science and am currently studying Medicine and Surgery at the University of Otago. Before moving to Dunedin I lived on Waiheke Island and studied NCEA! I was fortunate enough to get overall Excellence Endorsements at NCEA levels 1, 2 and 3 with specific Excellence endorsements in Levels 2 and 3 for Biology, Chemistry and Physics as well as level 2 Calculus and level 3 French. I was Dux of my school, and was first in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Calculus. I was also awarded the NZQA Top Scholar in French and an NZQA Biology Scholarship after sitting these NZQA exams in year 13.

I originally started tutoring a few years ago while still in High School because it felt like a nice way of giving back to my community and supporting the younger students around me and I absolutely loved it and have kept going since then! I really focus on tailoring my lessons to the student’s needs and their learning style and encouraging them to ask as many questions as they need so they can really make the most of our time together. I especially love using digital whiteboards to make the learning more engaging and break complicated concepts down! It has also been amazing to support students to find learning methods that work for them so they can add to their study toolbox to use both during and outside of our lessons.

In my spare time, I really enjoy baking, especially french patisserie, playing the guitar, and doing aerial silks! I also run a small online sticker shop and absolutely love working on that and sending letters to my penpals around the world!
