Monica Holopainen
NCEA & IB Tutor
Kia Ora! My name is Monica and I am a student at Victoria University of Wellington. I am undergoing a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in History and Criminology, and a minor in Film. In High School I underwent the IB Programme, where I studied Higher Level History, Biology, and Psychology, and Standard Level Spanish B, Maths, and English Literature. As someone who understands the struggles of both internal and external academic pressure, I aim to provide students with the knowledge they need to achieve highly, as well as the guidance they need to maintain healthy habits.
During my time in high school, I was fortunate enough to be involved in numerous service and leadership opportunities. I provided technological support to the elderly in two different retirement villages throughout my final two years. I undertook a leadership role as a House Captain for my school. I was part of the props team for our school plays for five consecutive years. Furthermore, I was also involved in volleyball and badminton. Finally, I tutored several younger students in Spanish throughout high school, and did one-on-one tutoring throughout my Year 12. I thoroughly enjoy aiding others both academically and personally to help them achieve their goals.
Subjects I can tutor: IB & NCEA Biology (all levels), IB & NCEA History (all levels), IB & NCEA Spanish (NCEA Level 1-3 and IB Spanish B SL)
