Reese Naidoo

Kia Ora!!

My name is Reese and I am a student at the University of Otago currently studying Neuroscience and Law. I attended high school on a general excellence scholarship where I completed NCEA Levels 1 and 2 in year 10/11 and IB in year 12/13. During IB, I studied Higher Level Physics, Chemistry, and Psychology as well as Standard Level Literature, Spanish AB, and Maths AA Anticipated. I received the Vice Chancellor's Scholarship to attend the University of Otago and was also nominated by my high school for the University of Toronto Lester B. Pearson Scholarship.  

As someone who has had a good tutor in high school, I know first hand the difference they can make. Having studied both IB and NCEA enables me to understand the struggles that students face and I hope to use this knowledge to help guide others through their courses. I also have previous tutoring experience, having volunteered to tutor both math and science while at high school. As a tutor, my aim is to help individuals grow their academic confidence while creating an environment in which they feel safe to learn. I also hope to help them develop critical thinking skills as well as build and maintain healthy habits.

While at high school I had the privilege of being a prefect and gained a lot of leadership experience. I loved to keep myself busy, participating in numerous extracurriculars; I was involved in 6 school musicals both on and off stage, volunteered at retirement villages, and was a House Captain. In addition, I coached netball for 3 years, receiving two trophies at the end of year 13 for my contributions. I also played netball in high school where I received MVP in my final year and continue to play netball for my university's club team. My love for music led me to play both the flute and piano, as well as sing. I was involved in my school's choir where I gained honors for competing at the Budapest International Choral Festival (where we made it to the Grand Prix!), as well as National Finale. Additionally, I love to cook, bake, paint and am an animal lover!
