Samuel Lee

Kia ora, my name is Sam, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Otago, majoring in both Data Science and Software Engineering.

At university, I have maintained a GPA of 8.8/9.0 and was awarded the University of Otago Academic Excellence Entrance Scholarship. Since 2024, I have been part of the lab demonstrating team for a first-year Java programming course, which has both deepened my passion for tutoring and refined my one-on-one teaching skills.

I studied NCEA at Aotea College, where I was top of my year for three consecutive years, gaining various subject endorsements, including Excellence in Level 3 Calculus and Chemistry. I was also awarded the Charles Beckett Mathematics Cup in 2021.

My teaching style is centred on understanding why something is done. I find this approach makes knowledge more reproducible, which is crucial for exams! Also, as someone who recently took NCEA, I can provide insights on common problems, exam strategies (and scoring), as well as helpful resources for your study.

In my spare time, I enjoy snowboarding, playing guitar, and working on personal coding

projects.
